This very naked 'wedding leotard' is the stuff of Irish mammy nightmares

We can hear her already. “Would you not wear something RIGHT? For your WEDDING?”

A WHITE DRESS is no longer an essential component of a wedding, so why not forgo it completely for a wedding leotard? Ah go on.

New York Bridal Week is currently underway in the Big Apple – and Israeli designer Alon Livné got tongues wagging when he debuted the newest wedding trend, the bridal bodysuit.

Yes, a (beautifully) bejewelled, flesh-toned bodysuit. Your Auntie Margaret would love it!

Livné told Cosmopolitan that he wanted to make something that was a ‘showstopper’ but still ‘feminine and soft’.

He explained that the actual wedding dress would be sold with a fuller overskirt – but he suggests whipping that off for the reception:

For the dancing, she can take off the overskirt and be more sexy.

*Irish mams everywhere faint into their cups of tea*

The Heaven dress was a huge hit with attendees, and was posted all over Instagram – whether this was out of admiration or disbelief, we cannot say for sure.

We expect to see the trend embraced at weddings across Ireland, from Ballaghaderreen to Skibbereen. Count on it.
